We’re excited to introduce Infused Classics, Island Cannabis Co’s full-melt hash infused preroll.
Hash is the original cannabis concentrate, and was popularized in Santa Cruz, California by pioneers and connoisseurs in the 1970’s and 80’s.
Island Infused Classics feature 100% natural flower and premium quality, full-melt ice water hash for a potent and flavorful experience.
This International Women’s Day, we wanted to pay homage to some of the wonderful women in the weed biz that make it all possible: our budtenders, or best buds, if you will.
We had a fun conversation with Precious Walk, a budtender in Los Angeles with a packed schedule and a love of cannabis. Here’s her insight into the world of budtending:
My name is Precious Destiny Walk. I’m born and raised in South Central Los Ángeles. These days I’m working in West Hollywood sometimes as a budtender, some days a cosmetologist, even a security guard on occasion. LA keeps me a busy woman, LOL. When I’m not working I love to lift weights, do yoga and take hikes. If I’m not outdoors enjoying Mother Nature, I’m probably home re-watching Dexter, Jersey shore, the real housewives or my favorite horror movies.
My favorite part of my workday as a budtender is the rush hour. I really love these moments for two reasons.
One: this is when I meet and help the most people. It’s back to back cannabis connections with all types of new comers and connoisseurs alike. Excuse my language but, its pretty f***in’ awesome.
Two: The warm, wonderful feeling I get after each and every conversation. Afterward I feel proud because I have either learned from, taught or connected with someone from cannabis it rewarding to learn from and help one another.
Straight up, I incorporate cannabis into my daily life for fun and wellness. After some edibles or a good smoke session, depending on strains, I like to knock out a workout, style and color hair, or even kick back and binge on my shows. Other times I use tinctures and balms to help me sleep or relieve any of my sore muscles after long hours. It’s literally useful in my daily life in the most helpful ways.
The way I find my island is by always staying present. What drives me is knowing that everyday is a new day for living, learning, loving, and smoking a joint...LOL. I find I am most in my element when I am living in every moment as passionately and fearlessly as I can. That’s a high that no strain can compare to.
One of my favorite strains hands down is Pacific Dream. This to me is the epitome of a perfect hybrid. It eases all the pains and bodily discomfort away with a graceful body high (god bless myrcene terps) along with a gentle cerebral head high to keep me focused and happy. Plus it tastes like a bowl of freakin’ blueberries. Yea please.
So many thanks to Precious for hangin’ with us. Give her a follow on her on Instagram at @prettyfitpreciosa!
Since Island’s inception in 2014, we’ve had one goal in mind: to make the California dream accessible to all through sustainable, high quality cannabis.
With a golden state of mind and a desire to inspire every kind of good time, we’ve spent the last few years meticulously building our brand and scouring the California coastline for opportunities to make this vision a reality.
We’re excited to bring you along for the ride to see how far we’ve come. We’ve honed our genetics to bring you California’s finest, top-quality flower. Every preroll is rolled to be consistent, and our multi-pack Minis are now individually sealed for max freshness. Our packaging is recyclable and created with sustainability in mind to minimize our environmental impact. All this to say: We’re gearing up to be one of the state’s biggest cultivators. (All while sticking to our humble roots, of course.)
From a single preroll to farm-fresh flower and everything in between, we’re proud to continue representing a less complicated side of cannabis. Check out the video above to hear where we’ve been, where we’re going, and how we plan to continue bringing that signature California feeling straight to you through our endless harvest.
Welcome to the sunnier side.
California’s in and out of lockdown and we’re all itching for adventure. While we’ve been able to #FindOurIsland in the great indoors (or with socially distanced backyard hangs), we know nothing compares to hitting the open road and getting a healthy dose of nature.
Wanderlust is hittin’ hard, so we’ve compiled a list of the best places for you to plan a (safe!) summer road trip based on your favorite Island strain.
If you love the woodsy flavor of our Evergreen Haze, you’re going to love the pine-scented air the Sequoias have to offer. This forest is home to the largest trees in the world, an abundance of day hikes, and views unlike any other. A pack of Evergreen Haze Minis would pair wonderfully with the towering trees and magnificent scenery available in the Sequoias.
Citrus was once king in California, and this park in Riverside memorializes the citrus industry’s impact on the Golden State. With old-school-inspired landscaping and vintage architectural vibes, this park offers scenic views alongside tastings of California’s freshest citrus. (And it may pair quite well with the tangy sweetness of a Citrus Wave Mini, if we do say so ourselves.)
A must-see on every Californian’s bucket list, Big Sur is the perfect place to pack along a box of Pacific Dream Minis. With grand, sweeping views of California’s cliffs and coastlines, the salty ocean air will surely complement the gentle, full-body high brought on by Pacific Dream. It’s a strain we like to say is “as easy as a cool, coastal breeze”—could it be any more perfect for the location?
Tourist trap or must-see pit stop? You decide. Venice Beach is one of the state’s most iconic strips of beach and boardwalk, known for its boho vibes and adventurous spirit. You’ll find people skating, surfing, enjoying good eats, shopping—and you’ll most definitely find L.A.’s fabulous fruit vendors offering the freshest fruit with a hint of chili, lime, and salt. The sweet, easy-to-enjoy flavors of Fruit Cart are perfect to complement any day on the beach for a sociable, midday high.
The PCH, aka California 1, is the most famous road in the Golden State, spanning over 656 miles with spectacular views along the way. It's one of the roads you think about when people say "enjoy the journey, not just the destination." You’ll pass some of the most iconic views California has to offer on this road alone—Malibu, the Muir Woods, Big Sur, Venice Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge, and more. Hit the road, pack a tin of OG Drift Minis, and enjoy the earth and fuel flavors of this indica once you’ve safely reached your desired destination.
This would be more of a staycation for us, but we’re inclined to include it—Los Angeles is the donut capital of the country, which is what inspired us to give this dessert strain the name “Donut Shack” to begin with. The story goes: Ted Ngoy, a Cambodian immigrant, arrived in California in the 70’s and set up a sweet shop with a blueprint for other refugees to do the same. This is where the iconic light pink donut box was born, and why L.A. is home to so many sweet shops. Fast forward a few years and our dessert strain pays homage to the state’s donut empire with fragrant notes of delectable sugar and a heavy high. (If you’re not a city-goer, Los Angeles is home to many trails: check out Griffith Park and the ever iconic Hollywood Sign hike.)
Whether you plan to safely venture out and see the state’s offerings or light up some Island at home, we hope it’s a great way to #FindYourIsland.
Folks, we've made it: it's the season of giving.
And while some of you may have gotten an early start on assembling the tree, putting up the string lights and blasting holiday music for the entire neighborhood to hear, that doesn’t always mean you’re fully prepared for everything the holiday season brings. In fact, the toughest decisions are still yet to be made: specifically, what gifts will most delight our beloved best buds?
Fear not, friends—much like the big, white bearded one himself, your wish is our command (and we know you’ve been extra good this year), so we took it upon ourselves to do the dirty work for you. Here’s a few of our favorite laid back, cannabis-inspired gift ideas sure to spark joy all year long.
This year especially, shopping small and supporting local businesses is one way to ensure your purchase goes towards something greater than just the present itself.
Your flower friends will fawn over a unique, carefully crafted gift created to enhance their moments of happiness, like these beautifully handmade ceramic pipes from Takoma Ceramics and Stonedware. With a variety of fun colors and distinctive styles, choosing only one will be the hardest part. (And of course, these would pair great with a fresh jar of Island flower.)
Since solo sessions have replaced our usual social gatherings, it’s become increasingly difficult to support that “does anyone have a lighter?” friend (you know the one).
Instead, beat them to the punch by giving them a lighter that they’re less likely to lose—emphasis on “less likely”, of course. Choosing a bright color will make it easier to spot, like this offering from Etsy, or take it a step further and add a personal touch. Either way, your friend will think of you fondly the next time they dig in their pockets for a light—especially if you pair it with a fresh Island Classic to try it out on.
Sugar, spice, and everything nice: it just wouldn’t be the holidays without a variety of delicious offerings, made even more “special” when cannabis cooking is involved.
These cute, cheeky and functional kitchen accessories will not only make your master chef friend feel super appreciated, but also guarantees you’ll get first dibs on the delectable dishes they whip up afterwards. Bong appetit, if you will. (Find the dish towel here and the oven mitt here.)
If you're feeling extra generous this season, you can also gift them a jar of Island flower so they're equipped with the special ingredient.
One thing is certain: whether you and your friends are well-versed in all things cannabis or new to the game altogether, there’s room for everyone at our table.
Coffee table books — like the ones found here and here—are not only a stylish, low-key gift, but they’re also helpful in learning the ins and outs of cannabis at your own pace. I guess you could say they’re... highly informative.
This gift pairs wonderfully with a pack of Minis so they have a fresh mini preroll for each reading sesh.
Of course, all these gifts would be made greater if they came with the right supplies to enjoy them.
In case you need another reason to stuff those stockings full of our signature Minis and Classics, this holiday season we’re proud to partner with Last Prisoner Project by donating a portion of the proceeds from our limited-edition holiday collection to support people imprisoned for non-violent cannabis offenses.
You can order the festive strains below on Eaze:
It's the most wonderful time of the year again, even though it's statistically not-so-wonderful year. Californians are making due and settling at home for a cozier, low-key holiday—which is the inspiration behind our new holiday preroll collection—but we know things are, well, different.
Despite 2020 being a year we're happy to put in hindsight, we're thankful that we're able to be home for the holidays. And while we have the privilege to package celebratory cannabis to make everyone's at-home holiday cozier and all the more festive, we'd be remiss to not acknowledge the fact that there are people imprisoned for nonviolent cannabis offenses who, in turn, can't be with their own families. Because of this, we're proud to be a partner to Last Prisoner Project.
In case you missed our latest announcement, a portion of all proceeds from our limited-edition holiday collection is directly benefiting three constituents and their families via Last Prisoner Project. In a reflection of holiday gratitude, we're sharing these constituents’ stories to shed light on the necessary work Last Prisoner Project is doing, along with the ways that you can help. Island’s contributions (and your own!) will be directly benefiting:
Corvain Cooper grew up in South Central Los Angeles, where his passion for fashion led to him opening a small clothing business in his neighborhood. In 2013, he was arrested for a minor role in a cannabis distribution operation. Due to his refusal to testify against others and having a third strike (with the two priors also being cannabis possession offenses), he is now serving life in prison. Corvan is a devoted father and son, but has been unable to see his family since he was transferred from his California prison to a federal prison in Louisiana. The prior charges that led to his life sentence have now been reduced to misdemeanors under California law, but the Supreme Court has refused to reconsider his sentence. You can sign a petition to commute his sentence here.
Rudi Gammo is a husband and father of three young children who was sentenced to five years in prison in 2018 after opening a city-sanctioned medical cannabis dispensary in Detroit. While he was doing nothing differently than other dispensaries, he was accused of running a “criminal enterprise” because he allowed people to grow cannabis out of homes he owned in Oakland County for the dispensary.
Michael Thompson is serving a de facto life sentence for selling three pounds of cannabis to a police informant in Michigan. During the 25 years he has spent in prison, his father, mother, and only son have passed away. Cannabis is now legalized in the state of Michigan, and he continues to fight for clemency from the Michigan governor. You can watch a video about his case from Last Prisoner Project here.
You can read more about other constituents and the work Last Prisoner Project is doing on their website.
🎶 I'll be home for Christmas, 'cause we're in quarantine 🎶
No doubt about it: this year has been a strange one. The phrase "home for the holidays" has taken on a whole new meaning. While the holiday season may look different this year, it doesn't have to be any less jolly—that's why we've decided to illustrate the concept of "safer at home" with a new Home for the Holidays preroll collection.
Our season's celebration: Three new preroll strains packaged in a festive celebration of the ways Californians will be settling at home for the holidays—along with a partnership with Last Prisoner Project to help support those who can't be due to non-violent cannabis convictions.
Each limited-edition strain has a festive name and all the same freshness and flavor you know and love in Minis and Classics. Mistletoe Haze (sativa), Champagne Confetti (hybrid), and Fireside Cookies (indica) will be sure to lift you into the holiday spirit. And with our signature heat seals in the new Minis tins, you’ll be able to keep each Mini as fresh as possible until you’re ready to enjoy it. Perfect for a long-lasting gift, perfect for savoring the strains at home.
Let’s be frank — it’s a privilege to package seasonal, celebratory cannabis for the holidays knowing there are people spending their holiday in prison because of non-violent cannabis convictions. That’s why we’ve partnered with Last Prisoner Project to support those serving time for cannabis with this collection. A portion of proceeds from each sale of our limited-edition Minis and Classics will be donated to support three constituents and their families. We’ll be sharing their stories here along with how your contributions will help them. It’s a cause we’re proud to support—especially in a season dedicated to giving.
However you find your Island this holiday season, we hope it's a safe and happy one!
All work and no play makes Island a dull team.
When we recently set off on a harvest-related trip from San Francisco to Humboldt (more on that later), an adventure was born. Our plan: soak up everything that our beloved Golden State has to offer and pay respect to the place we feel lucky to call home. Here's how we found our Island while on the road.
To us, a successful road trip means classic tunes, good company, and plenty of supplies.
With the first two covered, we began our journey by placing a quick order on Eaze to stock up on some fresh Island flower. With each product signature-sealed to perfection, finding the right offering to accompany us on our adventure was a breeze. With Island Minis in tow, we rolled out to our next destination.
There really isn't anything quite like the Golden Gate Bridge. After all, there's a reason it's one of the city's most famous landmarks and the most photographed bridges in the world.
Reigning supreme over San Francisco Bay for nearly a century, our coastal cruise beneath the Golden Gate’s iconic red pillars gave us picture-perfect views of the bustling sea & cityscape nestled below. A can’t-miss on any worthwhile trip up North, be sure to give yourself a moment to take in the breathtaking scenery at the Vista Point beyond the bridge (preferably with one of those fresh Minis.)
After leaving the comfort of the coast behind us, our next pit stop took us to the first of several pinnacles of NorCal living: the Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree in Legget, tucked just off of Highway 101. Once we paid the small (and worthy) fee, this popular tourist destination offered us the one-of-a-kind opportunity to see redwood trees in a whole new light, driving through the hollowed-out trunk of this 400-year-old, 276-ft. behemoth.
Of course, capturing memories and basking in the glory of our natural world left us feeling famished--luckily, Peg House is only a short distance away and serves up some of the best oysters we've ever had.
"Whether you grew up in sunny California or transplanted here along the way, playing tourist in the place you call home can offer a unique, often unforgettable perspective. In our case, this led us to the aptly named roadside attraction, Confusion Hill in Piercy. Here, we discovered the woozy wonder that is their "gravity house" (tip: leave the Minis in the car for this one.)
Of course, we couldn't visit the great outdoors without checking in on our favorite forested friend, the ever-elusive Legend of BigFoot. While the attraction itself was heavy on the kitschy fare and light on actual folkloring, we still got to catch up with the big guy, passing him a fresh one before heading on down the road.
There’s nothing more mystifying than taking a pause to embrace the awe-inspiring evergreen beauty that resides within Humboldt Redwoods State Park.
Before we hit our last stretch of the drive, we couldn’t help but pull off of the historic Avenue of the Giants to pay homage to the ancient relics looming above. If you’re the hiking type, give yourself a few extra hours to explore the endless trails within the park; this place truly embodies every type of good time.
There’s no better feeling than settling in after a long few days of travel.
But we weren’t ready to say goodbye to our sense of adventure quite yet; instead, we checked ourselves in to Humboldt County’s lovingly restored Eagle House which provided just the right amount of charm, relaxation & nostalgia to cap off our journey. A landmark of Old Town Eureka, it’s hard not to fall in love with this hotel/restaurant hybrid dreamt up by two Finnish emigrants, Henry and Elvira Tornroth, in 1886. Truly, pioneering originals.
So, while our journey ends here, yours is just beginning: we hope you’ll find your Island wherever that means for you. Just don’t forget to live the spirit of California through and through.
Ever wonder why cannabis strains have different smells and tastes? We’ve got a one-word answer: terpenes. They’re the organic compounds that help protect plants against predators in the wild, giving each strain a distinct effect and flavor profile.
Sounds simple, right? That’s an overall decent overall summary, but it goes a bit deeper than that.
Alpha Pinene. Beta Caryophyllene. 🤯🧐😶 ene. What does each one do? And which one is right for you? With so many different types out there, it can be intimidating to figure out where to start.
Maybe you’re someone who’s very much into the science behind it all and knows every kind of terpene there is -— or maybe you’re someone who just wants to have a good time without sweating the small stuff. We get it.
So that you can easily find what’s right for you—and enjoy a consistent experience every time. It’s all a part of our mission to make cannabis less complicated. Here’s a guide to get you started:
Hailing from the lemon and tangie dominant cannabis family, this fresh sativa offers aromatic notes of citrus and rind. Bright and summer as a California state of mind, it's the perfect companion for sunny days out in the Golden State.
Like a cozy cabin nestled in the woods, this classic sativa is warm and familiar. Accented with pungent notes of earth and pine, its profile dates back to the vintage era of cannabis. Gather round for an experience that’s sociable, cerebral, and comfy as a favorite flannel.
Like the OG in its name, this indica is a throwback to the cannabis that put California on the map. Long-lasting and heavy-hitting, its potent, fuely flavors will keep you lifted and unwound for hours. Feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face as you take a cruise down memory lane, Island style.
Warm and welcoming, this strain pays homage to Los Angeles—the donut capital of the country and the city we’re proud to call home. Born from a new wave of cannabis genetics, this indulgent indica strain carries fragrant notes of sugar, for a fresh-baked, full-body experience.
Bursting with juicy flavor, this fruity hybrid is as smooth as it is sweet. Perfect for get-togethers and midday pick-me-ups, it’s an easygoing strain inspired by life’s simple pleasures. Kick back, refresh, and float away on a citrusy cloud.
Cool and easy as a coastal breeze, this hybrid is a slightly sweet, balanced celebration of California’s most universally loved blue dream strain. Pause, reflect, and ride the gentle full-body waves into the horizon. And see where your California dream takes you next.
While you might not feel the same effects as someone else, our standards ensure that your personal experience will stay consistent across whatever strain you choose.
So that you know what flavor, aroma, and effect to expect every time you enjoy an Island preroll. It’s as simple as that. Whether you have a favorite strain or enjoy them all, turn happy hour into magic hour with Island prerolls. Discover more and see the full lineup: island.co/products/island-classics
Somewhere along the way, cannabis got complicated. Suddenly, you had to be an expert on strains and terpenes and the science of cultivation just to enjoy it. And honestly, we think that defeats the purpose of what cannabis is all about. Because good times should be simple, sunny, straightforward. Never serious.
Welcome to the new Island. A cannabis company grown in California with a Golden State of mind, made to inspire every kind of fun under the sun. We’re on a mission to make cannabis less complicated, more joyful, more natural and sustainable. Just as it should be.
Explore some of the ways we’re making good times more golden:

Whatever form you choose, we’re here to inspire every kind of California dream. Discover our new product lineup and follow yours.
If there’s one thing we’re serious about, it’s our commitment to quality and safety. That’s why every Island harvest is rigorously tested against our five-pillar grading system, guaranteeing it’s consistently clean, ethical, safe, and delicious.
And because we work with a network of local farms across the Golden State, we’re able to grow cannabis year-round. Giving you the freshest flower, no matter the season. Learn more about our Endless Harvest and sourcing standards.
Shining a light on what matters. As a cannabis company, we believe that making the industry more equitable and sustainable is more than a social responsibility—it’s a moral obligation. We have a platform, and we’re going to use it every way we can to bring everyone under the sun.
Starting by partnering with organizations like Last Prisoner Project, a nonprofit dedicated to freeing nonviolent cannabis prisoners. And continuing with ongoing commitments and actions across our Island community, from actively engaging our employees to continually improving the sustainability of our products. Because words are not enough. See what positive change is on the horizon and how we’re leading the way.
Always fresh, never not summering. It’s a new day at Island, and we’re just getting started. Join us on our journey. And see where your California dream takes you.
As a California-grown company, freedom is one of the ideals we value most. It’s reflected in Island’s laid-back culture. In our independently-minded ethos. In our strains, inspired by the wide, open landscapes of the state we love—from the Citrus Waves of the Pacific Ocean to the Evergreen Haze of the Sierra Nevadas to the OG Drifts down highways with endless horizons.
Most importantly, is our ability to enjoy cannabis openly and legally in the Golden State, without fear of criminal conviction.
It’s a freedom. And a privilege. Because depending on where you live, cannabis is either “essential” or a Schedule 1 illegal drug. And there are over 40,000 people (disproportionately POC) currently serving time for nonviolent cannabis crimes in the United States alone.
Here’s the truth: as a cannabis company, we have a moral responsibility to act. Now. Doing whatever we can to correct this fundamental injustice. Not just through our words, but through our commitments
That’s why we’re excited to be partnering with Last Prisoner Project, an innovative nonprofit organization with a mission we 1000% support—setting every last cannabis prisoner free. Made up of a coalition of cannabis industry leaders, executives, and artists, Last Prisoner Project is dedicated to correcting cannabis injustices through three key reform initiatives: prisoner release, record clearing through clemency and expungement, and reentry programs that help individuals get back on their feet.
Here’s how we’re shining a light on their mission and working together to support it:
Knowledge is power. We’re dedicated to using Island’s platforms to educate people about the issue and why it matters, amplifying the good work that Last Prisoner Project is doing.
The US cannabis industry is worth billions. Yet thousands of cannabis prisoners have suffered convictions for doing exactly the same thing. We’re doing our part to give back by making monthly donations to support Last Prisoner Project’s programs.
We’ve got a super-secret special collaboration on the horizon. Stay tuned for a big announcement, coming soon.
We’re taking steps in the right direction, but there’s still much more work to be done. Check back to see more ways we continue to fight this injustice, as we work to bring the same freedoms to everyone under the sun.
